HI ALL,

I'm Forwarding a few of these on just in case anyone can use these PA references. These were sent to me about a year ago so this database may have additional information by now. The GRSNP is a great place for research if you need info in north east PA. Their web address is listed at the bottom of the page.

Also If you visit the Library of congress web page at http://www,ccLocGov/ and you do a Meehan search under the American Memories Colection( search Written Materials, Manuscripts) you will find 5 pages from the federal works project of an interview with a Mary Ann Meehan of Brookfield Mass. Also a 2 page letter from Annie Meehan ( Boston)to Alexander Grahm Bell looking for information on relatives of her mother Elizabeth Bell father Joseph Robinson from Saint Lake NB .A letter from John U Pettit to Abraham Lincolin regarding John S Meehan's appointment to Librarian in charge of the Library of congress. An on line article written byThomas F. Meehan "(my dads exact name F is for Francis !) English Taxation in America"originaly published in The North American Review 1887 Original article is located at Cornell University. An application for pension from Bernard Patrick Meehan. and much more!

At the same site you can search the Library of Congress On line Catalogue. Key word Meehan and pull up every book ever published /written by a Meehan in their collection, which is extensive ! lot's of info on Books published such as The Meighan Sept in America by Bernard Patrick Meehan. Also All Books and screenplay's written by Thomas Meehan, such as Annie,(as in Orphan) I remember Mama,Boy's Town written in conjunction with Dore Schary . Jean M Stratton Porter's M stood for Meehan ! Also Mary Higgins M Clark another Meehan. Lots of findings here if you are looking for Meehan females who married and changed their names.

Also If anyone is looking for Historic Buildings look under the HABS /HAYER collection Historic American buildings survey done in 1933. Often you can find family info tucked umong the Photos, floorplans ,and documents. This is my absoloute favorite !You never know what you will find.Best to search by county .

Also Search the National Archives if you havent already .

BOB, I dont have the 1890 census so I cant look for James in Mayfield but i'm not done with Ancestry .com yet. more to follow.Charles and Bridget are listed together as #146 in this database from the PA research center. The 1900census for Mayfield Borough ,PA has James Meehan on th bottom of one page and the rest of the family on another. James sheet #4 Family Sheet #5 Enumeration District #14 I cannot read past item #9 the image is all black can you help?

PS Even if you dont find your Meehan link you will be amazed at the accomplishments of the Meehan /Meighan Clan.
