I have just got an query concerning a family who said that they had
inherited Law Castle.

I think from the limited details, they may descend from daughter of James
Boyd and Isabella Pringle (who came from Greenock, Rrenfrewshire) and their
fourth child - Anna Boyd who in 1874 married Robert Beedie Robertson.

James Boyd's grandfather brought Orchard in 1759.

While Thomas Boyd's 2 previous generations came from Dykehead, parish of
Dalry. Dykehead is situated about 3 kms SW of Dalry. So it is uncertain if
these Boyd came from the Pitcon Boyd or another Boyd family.

R1? John Boyd, b / /16xx ( ), d / /17xx ( ), bu , m / /17xx (Church, town,
etc), wife not given, dau of and (nee ) ??????, b / /16xx ( ), d / /17xx
( ), bu , and had issue:-

[Lived: of Dykehead, parish of Dalry, Ayrshire ]

S1? Robert Boyd, b / /17xx ( ), d / /17xx ( ), bu , m / /17xx (Church, town,
etc), wife not given, dau of and (nee ) ??????, b / /16xx ( ), d / /17xx
( ), bu , and had issue:-

[Lived: of Dykehead, parish of Dalry, Ayrshire ]

T1? Thomas Boyd, b / /17xx ( ), d / /180x ( ), bu , m / /17xx (Church, town,
etc), wife not given, dau of and (nee ) ??????, b / /16xx ( ), d / /17xx
( ), bu , and had issue:-

[Lived: of Orchard, Parish of West Kilbryde, Ayrshire ]

- It would appear from the above notes, that Thomas Boyd bought Orchard,
including Law Castle, in 1759. He was succeeded by his daughters (It did not
say if he had any sons born to him or how many daughters he had.)

A Genealogical Account of the Principal Families in Ayrshire, more
particularly in Cunninghame, By George Robertson, Vol 1., 1823, p 126, says
he "died about 20 years ago" Thus about 1803.

Do any other Boyd families belong to this Branch?

Thank you
